Note: You will need to order the AquaSurge Conversion Kit #29705 when converting Your Aquascape Pro (SFA) Pump 1500, 3000 or 4500 to AquaSurge
Use the AquaSurge Conversion Kit (Part#29705) to connect the 1.5" Female Threaded Outlet to either 2" or 1 1/2" Check Valve Assemblies.
The contains the parts necessary to convert any AquaScape Pro pump to the AquaSurge Pump using your existing Check Valve Assembly and Aquascape Skimmer.
The kit includes two parts - one you will use and the other you will not need:
1 1/2" Male Thread x 2" Slip adapter for Classic Series Skimmers and Check Valves. All you do is cut off the 2" Black Flexible PVC pipe between the check Valve and the pump. Screw the 1.5" male Threaded Part into the pump and glue the existing 2" Flexible pvc into the other end of the adapter.
- OR -
2" Aquascape Check Valve Adapter for Signature Series Skimmers and Check Valves. Has a 1.5" Male Threaded Part to screw into AquaSurge and 2" Aquascape custom-made Flange to fit into Aquascape 2" check valves. Just throw away old part.
The AquaSurge 2000 has a 1" Male Thread Discharge and comes with a 1" x 1.5" Male Adapter. All of the other AquaSurge pumps have a 1.5" Male Thread Discharge.
Special Note for Aquascape Pro 1500 (SFA1500) and Aquascape Pro 4500 (SFA4500) Owners!
The Aquascape Pro 1500 was discontinued at the first of the year. The AquaSurge 2000 and the 3000 are the official replacement pumps.Comparing the Pump Performance charts on this page will tell you which will be the best pump for you. The Aquascape Pro 1500 was $349 and the AquaSurge 2000 is $319.98 and the AquaSurge 3000 is $343.98.
If you have any questions whethjer the pump is strong enough, please compare the AquaSurge and Aquascape Pro Pump Performance Charts. The "Head Height" is the VERTICAL height from the pump to the TOP of the BioFalls. To this you add 1 foot of Head Height for every 10' of horizontal distance that the pipe travels from the pump to the BioFalls. Find and interpolate the Head Height on each charge to determine the amount of water flow provided by each pump.
The Aquascape Pro 1500 took 205 watts vs the AquaSurge 2000 which takes 250 watts (it is capable of pumping water higher (22') than the Aquascape Pro 1500) and the AquaSurge 3000 which only uses 180 watts. You may want to take this opportunity to step up the water flow of yourpond with the AquaSurge 3000 which uses less power than your old Aquascape Pro 1500 and at 10' of Head Height will generate 50% more water flow. If you are happy with your current flow, then please select the pump that most closely approximates that flow.
The AquaSurge 5000 only takes 250 watts compared to 625 watts for the Aquascape Pro 450 and is about $160 less to buy. At 5' of Head Height, there is very little difference between the water flow of the Aquascape Pro 4500 and the AquaSurge 5000. As the Head Height increases, there is a larger water flow difference. The decision for you to make is whether or not the significasnt energy and purchase price savings will be offset by a reduction in water flow.
Just a heads up - if you are switching from the Aquascape Pro (SFA) 1500 or the Aquascape Pro 4500 (SFA4500) pump to either Aquasurge, you will need the Conversion Kit 29705. The Aquascape Pro pumps have a 2'" female threaded outlet and the Aquasurge has a 1.5" male threaded outlet with a 1.5" female threaded adapter. The "Kit" only has 2 parts. One part is for the Classic style skimmer and check valve assembly which has a black 2" Flexible pvc hose between the pump and the check valve. If you have this simply cut-off the hose and glue into the 2" slip fitting with pvc glue and screw the 1.5" male thread into the 1.5" female threaded part on the Aquasurge pump.
If you have the Signature Series skimmer and check valve, you merely unscrew the hard plastic piece between the pump and Check valve and screw in the 1.5" male into the Aquasurge and the 2" flanged side into the bottom of the check valve assembly.
