Installation Instructions:

  1. Dig your hole a little bigger that the pond.
  2. Using dirt or sand to fill underneath to level out the pond. Use a level, this will help a lot.
  3. Push dirt or sand down the side walls about 3 or 4 inches around the pond outside walls and start adding water.
  4. As the water level starts reaching the height of the dirt start adding more dirt and continue this until you reach the top.

Question:
Customer wants to put Remanoid pond in his house and support it with a structure that would support the ledge all the way around but he cannot back-fill it. Would the pond be strong enough for this?

Answer:
If he means to only support the rim and have nothing below it that will definitely not work. The walls of the preformed pond are about ¼” at the thickest which is at the top. The weight of the water would definitely make it collapse.

Question:
Uh-oh - my pond developed a leak somehow. How can I fix it if I can find the leak?

Answer:

The polyethylene material does not deteriorate so there must be a crack or hole somewhere. If you can locate the hole when the pond is empty you could flame treat the area around the hole & seal it with a water proof silicone.

Question:

If a customer wants to put a bottom drain to turn one of your ponds into a turtle pond for this customer, how do you suggest doing that? Using a Bottom Drain kit or just a bulkhead fitting? Any suggestions?

Answer:

Let me start off by saying it’s not recommended. However, If I were installing a bottom drain I would use a bulkhead fitting with a good sealant & would flame treat that area for better adhesion. Flame treating is simply briefly running a flame across the area the sealant would be used at. This would void the warranty.

Question:

I bought a hard preformed liner and built a pond in Minnesota. I'm going to pull the pump and drain the lines for the winter. Is it better to leave the water in the pond and let it freeze or drain it with ground frost heave on the sides of the liner?

Answer:

I would recommend leaving the pond filled so it's less likely to heave out of the ground with thawing & freezing of the ground around the pond. If it's a polyethylene pond it has the ability to flex some.

Yes ours can with stand the Minnesota/New England winters! It is made using polyethylene plastic and this can withstand almost any climate out there! It never hurts to drain it but most likely it will just fill back-up over the winter months and no, you do not need to take this indoors.

Question:

How Thick is the pond?

Answer:

Our ponds are vacuum formed which means we stretch the hot plastic sheet across the mold and then draw it down into the pond cavity mold. The plastic will always be thicker around the top and then it gets thinner as it goes down which makes it hard to say exactly what the wall thickness is but I would say as thick as .100 gauge around the top and as thin as .070 in the extreme bottom areas. The weight of this pond is somewhere around 12 to 14 lbs. and that is just the pond only.

Question:

Customer wants buy a pond and cut 1.5” holes in one of your ponds for tubing.

Will this work?

Answer:

You can cut holes very easy and it will accept silicone on the inside as long as you clean the area real good. I say on the inside because the water pressure actually helps to keep the silicone in-place

Question:

How many bags of sand do I need to properly install a Lakeland Remanoid Pond?

Answer:

Good question! I have never used sand, only dirt, so it’s hard to say. Probably at least 6.

Question:

The pond has been in the ground filled with water for almost 2 weeks. How long will it take to unfurl(?). The two ends are sitting in the ground properly, but the two mid portions of the sides are rounded up.

Manufacturer Answer:

If the dirt was back-filled properly then the pond should lay-out flat. The plastic is flexible enough that if you force too much dirt into an area then it can cause the pond to buckle and the only way to relieve that is to remove the dirt where it has caused this. Now if the pond came to them with these raised areas then it will take some heat from the sun to relax it back to flat.
