If your Ultra™ Pump stops working try cleaning the protective input strainer and sponge. 

Another tip is to remove and clean the impeller and impeller housing with a mild acid-like white vinegar and toothbrush. 

This will remove any white scale build-up and allow the pump to run like new again.

UltraPump Fountain Kit Specs 

Question:

I can only fit my Ultra Pump in my water feature on it side. Will that be OK.

Aquascape Tech Answer:

Yes - that will be fine.

Question:

I bought a 1500 pump recently and in the parts bag there are two washers (i.e. like the ones used on a regular garden hose).?? Where are these used??? Does one go onto the pump outlet??? If so, does it restrict water flow?

Answer:

Those washers are to help the female collars make a water tight connection. It is for the 90 degree female x female elbow top and bottom. You will see them included with our collar style fittings.

Customer Question:

Can I hook up a submersible filter to these pumps?

Answer:

The 400 Ultra has a 1/2" Female thread on the intake if you remove the cage. All other models have 3/4" female threads so you can easily hook up a tube to it and leave the cage off.

Question:

I understand that some UltraPump 1500 and 2000's had defective impellers? How can I tell if my pump has the defective impeller and how do I check that it is the impeller that is the problem?

Aquascape Tech Answer:

Correct - Some Ultra pumps 1500 and 2000 dated 2013/18 and before had defective impellers.

It’s an easy visual test. The old impeller (magnet) is black with white trim. The updated impeller is 100% black with no white trim.Please take the pump out and inspect the impeller, taking the outside housing off and removing/cleaning the foam filter. Also please test the outlet with another electrical device to ensure that it is a working outlet.

Keep in mind the failure rate on the 1500 and 2000 was nowhere near 100% , but one of the signs is it failing shortly after install or it runs then stops and they take it out and clean it etc and then it runs again for a short period and stops again.

We usually will switch out impellers on any Ultra pumps first before replacing pumps because that is the part most commonly associated with failure even on 5yr old mag drive pumps.
