The IonGen Mid-Term First Anniversary Report - A Resounding Success!

Aquascape has just released a new IonGen Video that gives a great Overview showing how it works and how to use it.

We are approaching the One Year anniversary of the introduction of the IonGen and I think we would all agree it is probably the most significant technological advancement to pond maintenance in the last 20 years.

Personally I have gone from a String Algae “Harvest” every two weeks in my 6,000 gallon pond here in sunny Southern California to not using a drop of AlgaeFix or a grain of EcoBlast or Gerreen Clean since September 6th of last year when I installed it…and ZERO String Algae and my pond is crystal-clear. I still have an unused 2.5 gallon AlgaeFix and a 7 lb Bucket of EcoBlast at the ready have never needed it. The use of Beneficial Bacteria is still required

We have had about 13 ponds out of the 324 units that we have sold here at ThePondOutlet.com where we still have had some Green Water issues. The Aquascape Tech guys used various techniques that they have worked with the Homeowner on and have been able to correct a majority of those ponds. We have refunded 5 customers so far which were ponds that had unique issues – Concrete, well water, under-pumped, etc. I would say that the IonGen has been successful in at least 95% of the ponds which, when you consider all of the variables causing green water and string algae, is pretty incredible.

My only complaint with Aquascape relative to the IonGen is that my Sales of EcoBlast, GreenClean, AlgaeFix and other algae products are way down this year. Wonder why…..

Been thinking about ordering this. I have well water. I had borrowed a friend’s test kit for pH testing. The alkalinity was very high, but the fish all seem to do ok, so I’ve ignored it. I have lots of string algae, and the water was very green with the extreme heat we had this summer. Water seems clearer now that it is cooler, but still have the string algae. What do you think my success will be with this product? I need to do something–maybe a UV light instead? Please reply. Thanks. (P.S. The only thing I do is beneficial bacteria. Would appreciate any suggestions.)

The IonGen should take care of the string algae. UV lights are ok against some types of green water algae but have absolutely no impact on string algae. I have a 6,000 gallon pond insunny Southern California and used to be able to “harvest” my string algae it was so bad. IonGen in pond since Sep 6, 2009 and have not needed a drop of algaecide since. For the cloudy water you more aeration and plants always help too.

This is nothing but “snake oil”. I had one in my 1500 gallon pond for a year and the water looked like pea soup. a 40 watt UV filter cleared it up in less than a week. Stay away from this sham.

The IonGen is completely deadly on STRING (Mossy) algae and does not profess to eliminate green water algae. That being said, in a lot of cases including my 6,000 gallon pond, once I eliminated the string algae (which I used to “Harvest” once every couple of weeks pre-IonGen, it really helped the water quality of the pond and my water cleared up. Green water is usually a function of (in no particular order) Not enough aeration, not enough plants, too many fish, over-feeding, lawn fertilized leeching into pond, excessive rain, too small a pump not “turning” the water enough, inadequate filtration. All the chemicals and IonGens in the world cannot eliminate those problems….
