Chuck's Pond

The pond was constructed in August of 2001. The pump runs 24/7 all year long and pumps approximately 50 gallons of water per minute through the filter and over the water fall. The original pump lasted 8 years. I just ordered a new AquaSurge pump from ThePondOutlet.com on 9/28/2009.
The fish (koi and goldfish) stay in the pond all year long. After the water temperature drops below 45 degrees (F) the fish go pretty much dormant and do not require feeding. The pond still has the same 7 Koi that it was started with. They are quite large now. There is also many goldfish of various kinds in the pond.
All of the plants are perennial and are left in the pond all Winter. They come back up each Spring as the water begins to warm. They are rooted in the river gravel which covers the bottom and fills the shelves on the sides of the pond.
