Grows well both submerged or above water level. This bushy semi-tropical plant has glossy deep green leaves. The many clusters of 1/2" white flowers are made up of tiny white filaments and bloom profusely summer through fall. The fragrant snowball blossoms are one of the best butterfly-attracting plants for the water garden. Monarch butterflies will cover the plants during their fall migration.
A mature water snowball plant branches freely and will grow to 3 feet tall and wide, branching out on the water surface.
Water snowball will grow in a wide range of growing conditions, from moist soil to using as a submerged plant.
Hardiness Zone: 8-11 (can survive to Zone 5 when placed at the pond bottom below the freeze line for the winter.)
Planting Container: We recommend a 4" Planting Basket or a 1 Gallon Planting Container.
Light Requirements: full sun to part shade
Height: 12"-36" - Spread: 12" to 36"
Water Depth: Moist to Submerged
Planting Instructions: For ponds we recommend planting in small baskets with pea gravel or small pots with a clay based soil. While water snowball can be left free floating or weighted to the bottom of a pond, it will be more cold tolerant if planted.
