Matala Filter Media

Matala is the first media made for the express purpose of filtering koi ponds. It can handle the high solid waste levels associated with koi. It is to be easy to clean. The media acts as a substrate for biological filtering, a home for the good bacteria. A high surface area per cubic foot is necessary. If the media plugs up too quickly, the bacteria will become anaerobic. Efficient media will provide good movement of highly oxygenated water throughout the entire filter.

Matala filter media come in 4 filter pad options with progressive densities which can be used separately or together. Different colors are easy to differentiate. Each pad has its own unique structure. providing a different job in filtration.
