MicroSkim Brush Set-Old Style – 99218 for MicroSkim by AquaScape.

These are 4 Brushes hanging on a Rod. The Post-2007 MicroSkimmer had 4 Brushes in a Frame part# 99772

Customer Question:

This customer has a leak around the opening of his old-style Pre-2007 MicroSkimmer with the Brushes with the 4 loops. He has a leak around the faceplate. What parts will he need to remove and replace the faceplate?

Aquascape Tech Answer:

It sounds like his screws are corroded & I am sure that the grommets are corroded as well. The screws were a ¼” head, ¾” long 20 thread. In this case he would be better off drilling out the grommets that are inserted in the face of the skimmer & then drilling through to the inside. He will then want to replace with 1.5” stainless steel screws, washer & nut. The face plate should still be useable & he will want to check the liner for tears. If all that there is are the screw holes through the liner it can be reused, just will need to line up with the holes on the face plate. He will also need to remove the old silicone & reapply with fish safe/aquarium grade silicone. Hope that helps.
